The name probably comes from the Phoenicians who like nautical people founded the present site Windmill Finikounda was mainly maritime hub in the Early Helladic period. Some seasons were pirated base.
Finikounda is a picturesque fishing village with beautiful beaches, excellent infrastructure and of course many visitors.
